How To Use Our Ketchup More

Talk about being a popular condiment! Ketchup is a staple in 97 percent of American households.

Sadly, ketchup, including Craig’s Ketchup, gets left in the fridge for an unspoken amount of time and is almost always pushed aside when it comes to cooking.

Can I use ketchup as a tomato sauce?

While it doesn’t always get the credit it deserves for being a great condiment it truly gets overlooked when it can fill in for a missing tomato-based ingredient in a recipe. Think about it. There are millions of recipes that call for a tomato ingredient. Some ethnic foods are lost without tomatoes; Italian, American, and Mexican foods to name a few.

If you’re in a pinch and need tomato sauce, as long as it isn’t the main ingredient, we suggest using ketchup in a 1:1 ratio. Meaning if it calls for ¼ cup of tomato sauce, use ¼ cup of ketchup. Also, keep in mind that ketchup has other ingredients besides tomatoes.

What is ketchup made of?
