Our Apple Habanero Pork Chops

Pork chops are one of our favorite meats. We love them smothered in Texas Rib Candy or Craig’s BBQ Sauce, but our absolute favorite pork chop meal is Apple Habanero Pork Chops using our Apple Habanero Pepper Jelly or Apple Habanero Rib Candy – you choose.

Here is an easy way to prepare the pork chops, too.

Just get out a large covered casserole, put the pork chops in it, and smother them in Texas Pepper Jelly’s Apple Habanero Pepper Jelly (or Rib Candy) and sliced Granny Smith apples. Put the lid back on the dish, and bake in a 350°F oven for an hour, checking every few minutes with an instant-read thermometer after 45 minutes. The internal temp should be a minimum of 145°F (medium-rare) or up to 160°F (well-done) according to the National Pork Board.

This dish can also be prepared in your microwave, but the pork chops are more tender if you bake them in your regular oven. This particular meal also works when made in your crockpot; in fact, the crockpot turns the chops into the tenderest supper of all! (cook on low for six or seven hours).

The cook time on any of these methods will all depend on the thickness. Thick-cut pork chops or chops that are bone-in will take longer than a thin-sliced pork chop. We like a good 1-inch cut of meat. Any butcher would be happy to cut some special for you. Just ask.
