What’s Cookin’ Wednesday
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 26, 2008 – 2:20 am -Southwestern Corn Dip
Oh, this one is SOOOO GOOD! I’m making this for an appetizer on Thanksgiving!
You’ll need the following ingredients to make enough for thirty people:
1lb of cheese – I use Velveeta, but any kind of yellow cheese will do. If you have a lot of tag ends of cheese in your refrigerator, this is a good way to use them up.
1 can of corn, well-drained
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup of Habanero Salsa
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
Mix the cheese and corn in a large microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high about five minutes or until cheese is melted. Stir occasionally.
Mix in all the other ingredients.
Serve hot with any kind of crackers or raw vegetables that you want. This dip goes with everything. This recipe makes enough for a small party or family reunion.
For a smaller amount of dip, just halve everything and cut your microwave time to 3 or 5 minutes. As always, watch any cheese carefully in your microwave.

Texas Pepper Jelly Presents: The MagnaBloc Pro!
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 24, 2008 – 12:05 am -(Psst, don’t forget to enter the latest Texas Pepper Jelly contest!!!!)
Texas Pepper Jelly has more than just pepper jelly, you know. We also sell those fantastic Messermeister knives, and some accessories for those knives, as well.
The MagnaBloc Pro is made of solid beech or bamboo, and has strong magnets inside. It is an excellent and innovative way to store your good knives, and in fact turns your knife storage into kitchen art! It holds up to ten knives, and is also an excellent way to keep your scissors and screw driver handy.
Most knife storage involves a block with slots for the knives. There is really no way to keep the inside of those slots clean, which means, heaven only knows what’s on your knives! The MagnaBloc Pro has no slots at all, and can be thoroughly cleaned, which means it’s far more hygienic than other knife storage. You can position your knives any way you wish, and the Pro can hold knives up to 9.5 inches long.
With your knives in plain sight, you can see at a glance which knife you need for the specific job you’re doing.
And, as with any sharp objects, be sure to keep all knives out of the reach of children.
Excuse me now; I can hear my Raspberry Habanero and peanut butter sandwich calling my name.

What’s Cookin’ Wednesday
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 19, 2008 – 12:05 am -
My kids were jonesing for a “different” kind of snack last night, and I immediately thought of my Texas Pepper Jelly. My daughter Sara then thought of the big “loaf” of Velveeta cheese that she’d seen in the refridgerator earlier. (We’re seldom without Velveeta in this house.) (Now that we’ve discovered Texas Pepper Jelly, we’re seldom without that now, either!)
Sara hacked off a few slices of cheese and melted them in a cereal bowl. She then added the rest of MY jar of Pineapple Habanero Pepper Jelly, stirred it up (It did smell really, really good) and proceeded to crack open the package of snowflake-shaped Ritz crackers I’d been saving for my Thanksgiving pepper jelly appetizers.
Sigh. It’s just not possible to hide food from my kids. If it’s being saved for a special occasion, especially, they’ll find it and they will EAT it, too.
I don’t really mind. Besides, if you had smelled that Pineapple Habanero and Velveeta cheese dip, you’d have been here beating on the door. It was really far too good to waste on company. I told my children they could have it all. And they did.
So tonight, I’ll be ordering some more wonderful Texas Pepper Jelly! It’s easy to do, and perfectly safe, too. The Texas Pepper Jelly store uses buySafe, so you KNOW your credit card and identification information is GUARANTEED secure!
Everything about Texas Pepper Jelly makes my confidence in them grow. And now, I need to get over there and order some stuff. LOTS of stuff.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Texas Pepper Jelly Style
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 14, 2008 – 12:05 am -The department is having a pitch-in tomorrow, and guess what I’m bringing!
Sweet and sour meatballs, made with Texas Pepper Jelly!
I used to make sweet and sour meatballs with BBQ sauce and apricot jam, along with a dash of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and a tiny little bit of onion powder. I probably won’t bother with that recipe any more, though.
Tonight, I made sweet and sour meatballs with BBQ sauce and Berry Medley Texas Pepper Jelly, along with a dash of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and a diced onion. My house smells so good, I’m sure the neighbors will be pounding on the door demanding a bite of “whatever is in your oven” any second.
It’s actually the second batch of meatballs that’s still in the oven. The first batch is sitting on the stovetop cooling, and before I take it to the college tomorrow, I’ll have to add some of the second batch to the pan, because we’ve “sampled” so many of the meatballs, well, let me just say the pan is nearly empty there are a few meatballs gone missing. It’s a mystery.
Usually, I make the actual meatballs myself, but I might have cheated and bought a bag of frozen ones earlier. Maybe.
They’ll never know, will they. The only other thing I’ll need tomorrow is my gradebook and a box of toothpicks. That’s the best way to eat sweet and sour meatballs, you know.
I love Texas Pepper Jelly more every day. Honesty, I really do.
P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for the FREE eCOOKBOOK GIVEAWAY!!!!!

What’s Cookin’ Wednesday
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 12, 2008 – 12:05 am -Welcome once again to Texas Pepper Jelly’s What’s Cookin’ Wednesday!
We’re having crock-pot chicken tonight, and I’ve already got the chicken breasts soaking in a combination of Texas Tropical Habanero pepper jelly and a little water.
Before I go to bed, I’ll dump the chicken and the pepper jelly into my crockpot, along with a diced onion and a chopped green pepper. In the morning, the house will smell lucious! Before I go to work, I’ll cover the crock-pot insert and put the whole thing in the refrigerator.
When I get home, I’ll put the insert back in the crock-pot and set it on “high.” By the time my husband gets home, I’ll have the biscuits made and some sweet corn ready. We’ll lift the chicken pieces out of the crock-pot and put them on a platter, throw the frantic drooling cats out on the deck, and sit down to a simple and delicious meal. If you put enough chicken in your crock-pot, you’ll have enough left for tomorrow’s supper as well. If you put enough chicken in your crock-pot. I always THINK I do, but somehow there’s never any left for the next day.
There used to be, but never since i started using the various Texas Pepper Jellies.

Texas Pepper Jelly: Pepper Jelly and Cutlery and Giveaways, Oh My!
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 10, 2008 – 12:05 am -Don’t forget to enter the Texas Pepper Jelly Giveaway!!!
Remember, we give stuff away all the time! Check this blog daily so you don’t miss out.
Texas Pepper Jelly has more than pepper jelly, you know. We also offer our customers Messermeister Premier German Cutlery!
Messermeister Cutlery has been around for over a century, but it has been available in the States only since 1984. Serious cooks appreciate the razor-sharp blades and sturdy handles of Messermeister Cutlery; I have a serrated tomato knife from Messermeister and I absolutely LOVE IT! I’ve never owned a knife so sharp before! That’s my knife, pictured above.
You can purchase Messermeister Cutlery from Texas Pepper Jelly individually or in sets.
This weekend, I made homemade breadsticks, and we dipped them in Pineapple Habanero pepper jelly. I mention this to y’all for several reasons: it was yummy good, I used my tomato knife to cut the dough into strips, and we had guests who loved the Pineapple Habanero so much, they demanded a sample of my Texas Tropical Habanero, too. And I was saving that one for Thanksgiving!
Fortunately, Texas Pepper Jelly isn’t expensive, so I can easily order more. They have really fast delivery, too, so it will be here well before Thanksgiving.
I love to do business with Texas Pepper Jelly.

What’s Cookin’ Wednesday: Slow-Cooked Berry Medley Jalapeno Pork Tenderloin!
Written by Jane Goodwin on November 5, 2008 – 12:05 am -
Often, the best-tasting foods are a result of the easiest recipes! It’s true today, and tonight my family will be sitting down to a fantastic meal, thanks to Texas Pepper Jelly.
The mailman brought a box of incredible delights to my door today, and among the delicious-looking treasures in that box was a jar of Berry Medley pepper jelly.
After I pried it out of my husband’s eager hands, I decided to try a crock-pot meal with it.
So I thawed half of a pork tenderloin and cut it into medallions. I put them into my crock-pot and dumped about a half-cup of Berry Medley pepper jelly and a sliced onion on it, put the lid on the pot and walked away. It’s going to slow-cook on low all day, soaking in the Berry Medley pepper jelly and getting so tender, we’ll be able to cut it with the side of a fork.
Add to this some potato salad and baked beans – I used Texas Tropical Habanera in the beans – and we’re going to have to bar the door to keep the neighbors out of our dining room.
Oh, and by the way, that Messermeister knife that came in my Texas Pepper Jelly box today is FANTASTIC! It’s razor-sharp and sliced through that onion as if it had been butter!
Texas Pepper Jelly products are absolutely wonderful. I don’t know how I ever managed without them!
