Easter Sunday is March 31st – Make Those Breakfast Eggs Texas-Style!

Easter is coming up faster than we realize – it’s March 31 this year. It’s traditional to give the gift of a filled basket on Easter, and Texas Pepper Jelly has several different kinds of baskets filled with an assortment of pepper jellies that would be the PERFECT Easter basket gift for a friend, neighbor, or grown-up family member. While the children in your home might prefer a basket filled with chocolate bunnies and peanut butter eggs, the older family members would be ecstatic to find a basket for them, and filled with their favorite pepper jellies. We have several different shapes and sizes of spicy-filled goodness to choose from, too!

Here’s something awesome that makes Texas Pepper Jelly assortments different – and BETTER – than the assortments you can order from almost every other company: YOU get to choose your flavors. When you order an assortment of any kind from most companies, you’re limited. The baskets are pre-made, and often you are stuck with one or two flavors that nobody likes, and they go to waste, and so did part of your money.

Texas Pepper Jelly doesn’t do that to its customers. When you order an assortment from us, YOU are in charge of telling us which flavors you want. Often, people order several assortment baskets or tins and each one is different.

Order all one flavor if you wish. Order one of each. Order two of one and two of another. It’s up to you.

You tell us what kind of pepper jelly you want in your star-shaped basket, or your round basket, or your tin, and we’ll make it up fresh for you and send it right out.

Texas Pepper Jelly is proud to say that our shipping is really fast, too.

P.S. On Easter morning, when people traditionally have eggs, be sure to set out some pepper jelly to mix with the scrambled eggs, dip the boiled eggs into, spread onto your toast or biscuit or bagel, or eat with a spoon. Hey, people do that all the time. It’s great on French toast, too. And nothing jazzes up a grilled cheese sandwich like our Loco Cheese Dip and pepper jelly on whole wheat!

It’s also awesome stirred into your cocoa or coffee. And your wine, but that’s for later in the day.

Next week: Spice up that traditional Easter baked ham!

Spicy Texas Lasagna and Christmas

Texas Pepper Jelly spicy lasagna Lasagna is one of my husband’s favorite meals, and Texas Pepper Jelly’s lasagna is the best of any and all lasagnas you’ve ever had or ever will have. No exaggeration. We know you like our cheesy chicken lasagna, but you’ll add our Spicy Texas lasagna to your favorites, too.

Ingredients:

lasagna noodles, uncooked
2 cans spaghetti sauce
one cup sliced fresh mushrooms
one cup diced green pepper
1/2 cup diced red pepper
2 large onions, diced
2 cups shredded swiss cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
any other tag ends of shredded cheese you’ve got, leftover in the fridge
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 cup cooked and well-drained ground beef
1/2 cup cooked and well-drained sausage
1/4 cup finely shredded pineapple, well drained
1/2 cup Texas Pineapple Habanero Rib Candy

What to do:

In a large, deep lasagna baking dish, spray thoroughly with canola or olive oil. line the bottom with uncooked noodles.

On top of the noodles place half of each ingredient in whatever order your family prefers, with the cheeses on top. Put more uncooked noodles on top of the cheese, and build again.

On the very top, put more uncooked noodles. Top with sauces and cheese.

Bake at 325 for approximately an hour, checking several times to make sure the cheese doesn’t burn. When the noodles are soft, the lasagna is done.

Serve with a nice tossed salad, and you’ve got paradise in a plate.

Texas Pepper Jelly on MY Thanksgiving Table!

Texas Pepper Jelly, pepper jelly on the table If you look closely, you will see that among the salt, pepper, and other condiments on my Thanksgiving table, there are three bottles of Texas Pepper Jelly. The family, of course, was ecstatic to see those bottles, but I was also not a bit surprised that our guests were so happy to see pepper jelly on the table.

One guest in particular – Kevin – pointed out that Texas Pepper Jelly was his favorite pepper jelly, for many reasons, one being that Texas Pepper Jelly made seedless habanero jellies, such as apricot, cherry, peach, and apple. His diverticulitis made it difficult for him to find pepper jelly that he could eat, and Texas Pepper Jelly was his brand of choice, for he could devour (and he certainly did a lot of devouring!) as much of the seedless varieties as he wanted.

So, for your entire family and all of your friends – even those who can’t digest anything with seeds – Texas Pepper Jelly is the brand you want.

Christmas is only a few weeks away, so be thinking about ordering some of our gift packages for your gift-giving this season. Remember, you can choose any of our varieties of pepper jelly for your gift pack. In other words, YOU pick the flavor, not us. We’ll put your gift pack together according to YOUR preferences.

Spicy Pepper Jelly Conversation Hearts for Valentine’s Day!

spicy heart, texas pepper jelly heart, pepper jelly Happy Valentine’s Day from Texas Pepper Jelly!

Valentine conversation hearts are quite possibly the most popular candy of this holiday, but honestly, you know, they really aren’t very tasty. They’re just fun.

Wouldn’t it be a lot more fun to have delicious personalized conversation hearts? Of course it would. Here’s how to make Valentine Conversation Hearts!

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons of light corn syrup
2 pounds of powdered sugar, plus a little extra for “dusting”
Assorted Texas Pepper Jellies
Heart-shaped cutters, various sizes
Food coloring and toothpicks, or food coloring markers

What to do:

Put the gelatin, water, and corn syrup in a small bowl and mix well. Microwave until the gelatin dissolves (about 30 seconds) and stir well.

Pour this mixture into a large bowl and add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Using a hand mixer, mix until the powdered sugar is blended in.

Add another cup of powdered sugar, again mixing (on low) until it’s all blended. Continue to add sugar and mix, occasionally scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl with a large spoon. The candy will start out very watery but will soon become a very stiff dough.

Once you’ve mixed in all the powdered sugar, dust the countertop with powdered sugar and scrape all the candy dough onto the work surface. The dough will be very sticky and stiff. Dust the top of the dough with powdered sugar and begin to knead until the dough is satiny and not sticky. This might take a while.

Divide the dough into as many portions as you have colors and flavors. To flavor and color the dough, roll out one of your dough sections into a palm-sized disc and add a few drops of coloring and flavoring to the center, then fold it over. I’d wear disposable gloves for this part if I were you.) Knead the color and flavor-filled dough until each portion of dough is colored and flavored.

Dust your countertop and rolling pin with powdered sugar again and roll out each of the candy portions to the desired thickness. (about 1/4 inch)

Cut out your hearts with cookie cutters of uniform or various sizes, and transfer the hearts to a baking sheet or pizza pan lined with waxed or parchment paper. Let the hearts air-dry for most of the day. If your hearts are too moist, the ink will run.

When the hearts are dry, write your messages on them with a toothpick dipped in food coloring, or with a food coloring marker. Be original.

With personalized Texas Pepper Jelly conversation hearts, you can truly get your message across to the people you love best.

Be nice, now. . . .

Christmas in Texas: Like A Bowlful of Jelly

Santa, according to the poem, had a belly that shook like a bowlful of jelly when he laughed. Whenever I hear or read that, it’s not regular jelly that comes to my mind any more.

It’s Texas Pepper Jelly.

My family have gotten into the habit of using pepper jelly on something at almost every meal now. So, I’ve gotten into the habit of putting a bowlful of pepper jelly on the table for all three meals.

I’ve caught them all licking the spoon, too.

We put pepper jelly in coffee, sangria, tea, cocoa, and water. We freeze pepper jelly in ice cube trays and drop ‘em in lemonade and punch. We put pepper jelly on mashed potatoes, and toast, and biscuits. We use pepper jelly in baked beans, and salads of all kinds. We marinade chicken, and pork, and fish in pepper jelly. Pepper jelly has replaced butter on our table. My kids put pepper jelly on pancakes and waffles and French toast. My husband makes a peanut butter-and-pepper jelly sandwich when he gets home from school. We stir it into soup. We use it instead of salad dressing. We spread it on most sandwiches.

Texas peppr jelly Christmas logoReally, I can’t think of a single pepper jelly “experiment” that flopped. The stuff is just so good.

About that sangria with pepper jelly. . . . I highly recommend that one. I mean, it’s fruit, right?

Be sure you set out a bowlful of pepper jelly on your holiday table. Santa’s watching you.

A Texas Christmas: Everything You Need is Right Here

Merry Christmas from Texas Pepper Jelly

Merry Christmas from Texas Pepper Jelly!

Holiday season is Texas Pepper Jelly season. Lots of you have ordered our products for Christmas, and you’ll get your packages right on time.

If you order now, you’ll get your package well before New Year’s, and believe me, you’ll need our products for New Year’s Eve if you’ve having people over, or going where the people are, or even just sitting at home waiting for the Times Square ball to drop!

So often, the simplest things are the best, remember. One of our favorite things to do with pepper jelly is just to spoon some over a brick of cream cheese and dip crackers and/or raw vegetables in it. It looks and tastes like something you’ve worked on all day, but it takes about 30 seconds to prepare! While you’ve got the jar of pepper jelly out, spread some on your hot biscuits or rolls. You’ll never use anything else!

We know that those of you who ordered our custom gift tins will be the hit of the family reunion or workplace gift exchange. Nobody else will bring what you bring, and they’ll crown you king/queen of the party!

Pepper Jelly is such a simple and delicious thing. But as I said above, it’s those simple things that are oh-so-often the best!
